This song began life as a waltz, and was changed to its current form in January 2010. I first played this song live a month after I lost my home in a fire. I thought it was topical and funny, but the audience just thought it was sad. It's not about a fire at all. It's a warning that English majors should not become involved with non-English majors.

lyrics
Remember that night
when the house burned down
and you wore a frown
because it was all gone
all that we'd built
together for years
and then your tears
came flowing on strong
Flammable
you thought it was
inflammable
And you were right
I said it's okay
we still have us
but you would not trust
this optimist
I tried and I tried
to make it okay
you walked away
without a kiss
Unravel
my heartstrings
and ravel
them again
All your words mean
the same thing to me
A visit with my friends
proved that they'd been
hardly mistaken
in sussing you out
valuable
you said they were
invaluable
well you were right
This is THE ALBUM about the drudgery of work and self doubt while trying to create something wonderful. I cannot recommend it enough. Planga-La Laboratories
If for nothing else, get this for the song "Snow." It kicks my ass every time I listen to it. It is everything I want to do as a songwriter. Planga-La Laboratories
